Balancing: Eating Fruit and Drinking Fruit

I told you all about the Green Smoothie Cleanse my mother and I were testing out before I left this year. Well, she continued her journey and hit the JACKPOT with this Smoothie Recipe.


Tropical Green Smoothie:

1 cup Kale, Spinach, Lettuce, or Mixed “Power Greens”
1 cup coconut water
1 cup organic tropical mixed fruit (thawed out)
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
1 slice of lemon or lime
We like to blend the greens and the coconut water first until smooth. Then we add the fruit, chia, and lemon or lime. I LOVE when I add lime it gives it a little extra flavor!

Experts say that you shouldn’t eat the same fruit and greens every day, so feel free to substitute your favorite fruits in and out, I like to use organic mixed berries as well.



Story Time!

My mom HATES when there are chunks in her smoothies; I’ve seen her throw them out if it isn’t properly blended. Never forget the day I called her at work to tell her something and I asked how her smoothie was and she answered way too pissed off but always proper, “I’m quite literally chewing on lemon rind.”

Since we’ve started our “Smoothie a Day” as she calls it, she has gone through 4 blenders. All of which she has returned and at Costco is now known as the “Blender Lady.” We tried the Kitchen Aid, then we bought a bullet, then it was a Ninja and none of them cut it. After lots of research, she decided we needed to splurge and purchase the Vitamix.

We bought the Vitamix and it has changed lives. We put chia seeds in our smoothies every day and usually, we’re like “If it blends everything but the seeds it’s successful”… Well the Vitamix blends EVERYTHING. Here is a link to the one we have!!!
